Job Description
Project Details: - The Greenplum Technical support team is engaged in providing 24X7 support to Greenplum’s Bizgres family of products. Bizgres is a family of high-performance, affordable, open source powered database servers for Business Intelligence. Bizgres is currently available in two different versions Bizgres MPP (Designed to support the needs of multi-terabyte data warehousing environments) and Bizgres(Designed for small to medium sized Business Intelligence applications).
Objective:- The support engineer would be engaged in answering customer calls about Greenplum Products. Calls would be pertaining to faults, support requests, product enhancements and general enquiries. Meeting SLA’s is mandatory hence, the engineer must ensure timely resolution and escalations.
Primary Responsibilities: -
In a professional and customer focused approach, receive and accurately record customer report of faults, support requests, product enhancements and general enquiries in relation to the Greenplum products.
Initial call logging using the CRM tool available (OTRS).
Undertake initial fault analysis and record findings where applicable.
Search knowledge base and provide corrective action where possible.
Assign appropriate priority to call.
Direct call logging information to correct recipient, based upon call type, severity and customer support category.
Provide status of previously recorded logged call.
Monitor recorded call progress in relation to customer support category.
Work with system engineering team, follow their standards and methods.
Desired Profile
Skills Sets: -
Knowledge of working on Oracle production databases.
Knowledge and use of Linux and Solaris. Advanced administration knowledge in Linux/Solaris environment would be preferred.
Knowledge and use of bash and bourne shells.
Knowledge and use of ssh and rsh.
Knowledge and use of ftp and sftp.
Knowledge and use of telnet and rlogin.
Knowledge and use of grep, sed and awk.
Knowledge and use of netstat, vmstat, ethtool, ifconfig.
Knowledge and use of POSTGRESQL preferred.
Be able to update call scripts and knowledgebase.
Should have good interpersonal and communication skills and should be a team player.
Experience in conversing with global clients will be an added advantage.
