Qualifications:
Mechanical Engineers : A degree in Engineering or Technology in Mechanical Engineering from any recognised University / Institution recognized by the AICTE with not less than 60% in the aggregate.

Computer Professionals: A degree in Engineering or Technology in Computer Science / IT or MCA from a Statutory / Deemed University or Institution with AICTE recognition with not less than 60% in the aggregate

Scale of pay: The selected candidates will be placed in the pay scale of Rs.10750-300-16750/-.

Age: The upper age limit is 27 years. Hence, candidates born before June 3, 1980 need not apply.

Demand Draft:
Applicants are required to furnish a Demand Draft of the value of Rs. 250 payable to ‘The Shipping Corporation of India Ltd’ drawn on any Nationalised/Scheduled Bank payable at Kolkata. The candidate should write the full name as appearing in the Online form, full address, post applied for and registration number on the reverse of the Demand Draft. The Demand Draft is not refundable or returnable. Application fee in any other form is not acceptable.

The Draft may be forwarded along with the print out of the Acknowledgement Slip, certificates of professional qualifications/mark-sheets, proof of date of birth, to Post Box 12005, Cossipore Post Office, Kolkata 700 002, by ORDINARY POST. The SCI will not be responsible for any postal delays. SC/ST/PC candidates are not required to send in the Demand Draft.

Procedure to Apply:
(a) Candidates are required to apply online through SCI’s website: www.shipindia.com. Applications will be accepted upto 10 June, 2007. Applications sent by any other means/mode will not be entertained.
(b) Candidates are advised to apply after carefully going through the detailed advertisement and instruction placed on site. All fields must be filled carefully with correct details.
© After submitting your application, you are required to take a print out of your Acknowledgement Slip which will have the name of the candidate, discipline, city of written examination and a unique registration number. The print out of the original Acknowledgement Slip along with Demand Draft (if applicable), mark-sheets, proof of date of birth and caste certificate (if applicable) will have to be sent to Post Box 12005, Cossipore Post Office, Kolkata 700 002, by ORDINARY POST.
(d) In case you are unable to take a print of your Acknowledgement Slip, you are advised to log out and re-enter the system by entering your unique registration number and thereafter clicking on the ‘Reprint’ option. Once the application form is submitted, no editing/modification of master data is possible.
(e) Candidates are required to possess a valid e-mail and furnish current telephone numbers which are to be entered in the On-line Application Form. The e-mail is required to be active for at least six months, as any intimation to the candidates regarding the recruitment/selection process shall be provided by SCI through e-mail. They are further requested to check regularly their e-mail for any communication from the SCI in this regard. SCI will not be responsible for bouncing of any e-mail sent to the candidates.
