Job Description

Training perspective

The description of the program covered over the period of 3 years is given below:

Year 1

During the first year the program, these trainees go through a 3 month program on various technologies required in the FMG technology area such as:

Desktop Support based on Microsoft technologies

Microsoft server technologies this training revolves around the MCSE curriculum and will prepare the trainee for an MCSE certification. The training will also prepare the training for on-the-job training in the Windows area.

Solaris Solaris Level 1 and Level 2 training this training revolves around the Sun Solaris Certification Curriculum. This will prepare the trainee for work in the Unix area

Oracle Database This training provides the trainee into a detailed insight on databases based on an OCA (Oracle Certified Associate) program. This will also prepare the trainee for database administration work in FMG

CCNA this training will provide a detailed view of networking to the trainee and will prepare him for networking operations in FMG

In addition to the above streams, the trainee will also work in FMG operations and be involved in the operational area such as helpdesk, desktop support, troubleshooting, and technical documentation.

Year 2

During Year 2, trainees will undergo training in the data center operations. They will then work in the FMG data center operations area as junior staff. This will not include any data center management work, but will concentrate L1 Support of data center operations. The necessary training to discharge their duties will be provided on need basis. This on-the-job training will give a good perspective on Data Center Management and operations.

Year 3

During Year 3, the trainees shall be involved in L2 and L3 support in data center operations and will carry out system administration tasks. The recruit will undertake L2 and L3 support from a system administration perspective. In addition, they will also participate in system administration activities from a system manager perspective to ensure that they have a good perspective of data center administration from a supervisor point of view.
