FINALLY GOT IT !!! YES !! YES!! I AM SELECTED IN TATA INFOTECH LTD.(TIL, Pune)

Well as it is said that “Failure leads to SUCCESS”. It was a long path for me to reach this day.

The Journey started after my 3rd year of college when companies started to come for Campus.

First of all L&T and TCS came for which I was not eligible. Then, after few months, comes the Polaris in which i couldn’t clear the written test.

…. this was almost end of campus……..as many my college colleagues started applying directly to the company and attending their walkins……………

Then I went for the Infosys written … but again i couldn’t clear the written…..

After this I appeared for interview in many Baroda local companies like Forte Infotech for VB,VB.net post (where i cleared their written test), .. at Chase infotech (Ahmedabad for same)……and 1-2 similar companies…..But one thing i gained from this is that i got experience to face interviews.

Later comes to our campus..VCustomer (A BPO)…I cleared first round… but couldn’t clear telephonic interview………..

After it was TCS where I cleared written Test and Technical but couldn’t cleared HR…It was an achievement for me as I was among 150 (round abt) candidates from 2500 who went for HR but couldn’t made among top 50-60 who were actually selected……………..

then it was Applitech Infotech Ltd (again Ahemdabad local company) where The HR called me and told me to join but salary was too low….though company is very good……………..but still I was not interested…..

Lastly, When i was rejected from TCS i was much disappointed…. but on the 18th Sept. i came to know abt walkin of TATA INFOTECH at PUNE on 20th Sept. I just confirmed it and in a rash booked tickets for going to Pune on 19th Sept. I reached pune on 19th evening and went for the walkin next day. There were more than 1500 people at walkin…I was in the 3rd batch for the written each batch consisting of more than 300 people………………….It was a tough fight………

From 1st batch only 11 could cleared the written….from 2nd only 16 and from 3rd only 10…i was among the 10 (…………..among one of happiest moment………)

Next day i was called for the Tech & HR ……they told to mail or contact within 3-4 days…On 28th morning 10:00 am I rang them …they told that result would be declared today itself and so i should check my mail by evening ……………and….@ 3:30pm I got the mail that “Nikhil Congrats !! You are selected and confirm your acceptance for Pre Employement Medical test (just a routine body checkup)”
…………….(HAPPIEST MOMENT Till now)…………………………..

TIL has a package of 2.5 lac p.a (as one the candidate told me….) with a 1 yr bond…….

Hence, i reach this day in a step by step manner……..well failure leads to success.

So friends, at the end, I would like to say “try again..try again..until u succeed”. Never lose Hope. GOD is always their with you.

The technical paper had 2 parts C and C++ .. you have to clear both these sections. they have separate cut off for Both .. Only if you satisfy this criteria you will attend the next HR and Final technical interview.

we had HR round first .. where they look for good communication and soft skills.. out of 576 students who took up test 45 cleared and of this 45.. 9 got rejected .. (not sure of the number)

then we had our technical interview.. before this you will be asked to fill up a form where you can write your primary skill set depending upon your choice .. i took up mainframes and so i wrote the same there ..For a fresher it is enough if you put C or Java .. But be prepared and confident in any one language .. you will asked to write simple coding ..

my interview was for about 28-30 mins .. they asked me only on Cobol,DB2 and cics.. all basic qns.. but if u dont know something ,. pls tell you dont know ..

DO NOT ATTEMPT OR TRY TO IMPRESS THE PANEL.
It is easy to get through ONLY IF YOU ARE CONFIDENT .. SO BE CONFIDENT,RELAXED..

About thr pattern do not follow Old paper pattern.

Paper had 5 sections-
Sec I English(very easy, 4-5 vocab, grammar, sentence completion, RC)
Sec II Aptitude(10 ques on Venn diagram, 2 on probab,5 on mulplication and Division)
Sec III Mental Ability(very simple, try to score 10/10,

u need to tell all three are similar, none are similar, 2 r similar, 1 Q(5 sub ques) on conditions given and u need to select candidates on various criteria )No practice required for this.

Sec IV C ques(do pointers(not in too depth),malloc,calloc,structures,for,ifloops very well)
Sec V C++(virtual const and destr, templates, access specifiers, OOPS conceps, virtual functions)

GD : They do not look how relevant u speak they only look u can shout or not so plz speak if u want to clear this round.

HR Interview: Its very simple if u satisfy eligibility criteria and know something about ACCENTURE u will clr it.
Technical + Final Interview :They ask everything regarding ur project and some technical(C,C++) and HR question. If u r in final round this means u r almost in.

ACCENTURE in every stage looks how much ur confident in communication. If ur a good communicator then ur sure to clr the Intr rounds.

First I had 2 fill up a blue form which was very important w.r.t upcoming tech & hr interviews. Then tech interview….one lady (LD) and one gentleman (GM) I only will provide u with the tech interview questions. My tech interview was 80% project based. Some of the single questions I remember are as follows
GM: any application softwares u know???

LD: diff btwn dbms & rdbms????? What r codd rules???

GM: how many types of relationship??? Eg. Of many-to-many relationship???

GM: relationship btwn a foreign and primary key??? Smart-key????

LD: eg of left-outer join??? Recursive join????

GM: one complex query involving join!!!

LD: why have u used access instead of oracle in yr project???

I: (remember don’t mumble in the interview. If ur saying something ‘false’ show the confidence in u that yr answer is correct.) Our client told me so. (then smile to yrself!!!!!)

GM: types of dbms?? Give eg of each!!!!!!

LD: give an eg of a table which is in 3nf not in bcnf??? Eg of reverse????

GM: goal in 5 yrs??? Can u achieve that????

LD: what is software configuration management???? What is QA????

GM: what is CMM??? Why level 5??? Advantages of spiral model??????

Just remember to get yr attitude right. Guys remember besides apti and interviews dress code, smartness, eye contact, positive attitude, friendliness, blue form, communication skill, extra curricular activity, general knowledge, presentation, iq, mental ability, decision taking ability are also tested during interviews. This is from a personal experience besides ask the interviewer as many questions as u can. Show the interviewer u r dying 2 get in his organisation.

I m really pleased to tell you that after so many attempts I have finally made it into satyam. For all the freshers I would just like to say one thing that dont give up, there is something for all of us. I have to join in hyderabad on 12 march.

I appeared for satyam test on 4-5 march in delhi.

Here I m giving u the idea abt how the paper was as I dont remember the exact questions .I m really sorry that I couldnt give the paper early .I know some people have exam on 10th in hyderabad but guys dont worry the paper was really very simple.The paper contains 15 questions that u have to attempt in just 30 min.Here be careful as there is negative marking as well.The cutoff goes at max 7 marks( not more than this so only attempt questions u r sure about).

This is a completely aptitude and logical reasoning round. Prepare chapters well from R.S agarwal like clocks ,calendar,ratio n proportion,compound interest,time n work.

This is really simple round u just need to initiate n keep ur Kool .try to speak at least 3-4 times in 10 min time.My topic was Importance of a brand. I started with the discussion.There was this guy who was trying to show that he cares for everyone n everyone shud get a chance but he was out from this round.

This is both Hr as well as Technical .Now here it all matters upon ur luck wat kind of interview panel u get.Well dont panic its really easy n simple just know ur basics of C,C++ well n DBMS,Also some knowledge of project do matter.

Well I finally cleared. Wat I will suggest u is that dont make guesses in aptitude test just mark the answers u r sure abt n then its really simple to crack Satyam.

I am very happy to tell you all that finally i made it to satyam.
I had test on 10th march which was quite easy…out of 8400 aproxx
2213 people were Shortlisted for GD
Any one who have common sense can clear those test. People who By Heart
the formulas cant clear such kind of tests
Its the aptitude test guyz!…Aptitude lies in you…not in RS
Aggarwal books…books are just guides to know the concept.
Dont follow those books BLINDLY.

On the next day i had GD which I cleared quite comfortably….out of
2213 people 662 were shortlisted for final round.
Topic given for us was Privatization of Public Sectors.

Then came the final round for which i have to wait for almost 6 Hours
for my turn from 2PM to 8:30PM.

The Tech Guy asked question from the concept which i hate very much(DBMS).

But i was able answer all the questions he asked. He also asked more
questions on DataStructures. I managed him by not taking him to deeper concepts of
the subjects in my answers. And i suggest you all people to do this. Never try to Over Show yourself. It will lead you in to complete mess. He was not able to ask question in my project because I think he did not know VC++.

Then came turn of HR….he too asked few tech question like

–> Can we insert a null value in a foreign key
–> What is an index.
–> If i have Select Query why do we need index.
–> What are DataStructures( Be carefull with its defination)
–> Examples of some datastructures and their logic and also their
real time implementations.
–> What is a TRIGGER.
–> Function Overloading and Function Overriding
–> What is Abstract Key ( I was not able to answer this)
–> Role in my project.
–> Few questions on UML(cos i have used in my project)
–> Real time implementation of MultiDimensional Array….and list goes on

and some HR Questions.few more which i cant remember. and i thing
finally around 200 to 250 made it.

Written Test:

Prepare from previous papers. It’s of the same pattern. Prepare wordlist from Barrons. There was no psychometric test. We had only 1 and a half hr to complete the paper. For quants, we had to write the answers and were not of multiple choices. b .Main problem is the time shortage to complete it fully.
Interview

There were around 8 - 10 panels for tech intrw held at TCS, Karapakkam, Chennai.Environment was excellent. People from TCS were very soft and had a cheerful
face.

In my panel, two persons of age around 35 – 40 yrs interviewed me.Tech intrw was held for around 55 min. Slightly drilling but easy.After clearing tech, I attended HR where one young man interviewed me. It went for half an hour exactly. Most of them were only personal questn and some tech Qs.On my time slot, 5 ppl attended in that same panel and only 2 cud get thro.

For another friend, the tech held for just 10min.
They asked 2 gen. Qs like where he is from (Ambattur) and how he reached that office.Then 2 tech Qs 1) Shannons theory ?
Ans: “I don’t know”2) Diff betn up85 & 86.
He told correctly.He got selected.

So, it depends on ur luck to get a good panel.

1. Introduce urself other than in application.

I told abt my positives and ideologies.While I was saying the 2nd point of my ideology, my throat got chocked ‘coz of fear.  Are u alright? Yes sir. I’m slightly nervous.

Playing Tennis and chess.

I said we’ve checkmate the opponent king.
He poured more Qs on chess.
I said, I used to play chess only with computer just as a time pass and not serious with that.

Here’s pattern and some questions which they asked in paper

1)its related to parts of coins,a man has some coins,one third of it belongs to eldest son,one fifth to second and remaining 49 to youngest,u have to find total no.of coins.
Solution:just simply x/3+x/5+49=x and calculate x.

2)a man was 80 yrs in 490 and in 500 he was just 70,so when he born.

3)it was related to stamps,something like 3 rupees given and u have to take home,25 paise,50 paise 20 paise stamps,I don’t remember it ,and also not solved it.sorry.

9)4 persons hari,gens,and their wifes cesal and lina sat on cornors of square.with instruments,violin,drum,vissile and one moreand some conditions given and u have to find who plays violin,its easy qn u can solve in easily.

10)the minute and hour arms of my clock meet every 65 minutes,does my clock loose or gain time.

Second part was of English.45 qns in 30 minutes

First one big para on microphones setup,6 qns followed by it,time consuming,I solved it as last,after attempting all other remaining 39 qns. Attempt as many as u can,no negatives .i did all 45.and abt 40 were correct.its very portion so just get ur basic grammer,verbs simply.
Results announced 3:00pm
sharp and I was on 11 no.interview tomorrow 15 may,8:30am sharp.

Interview was very nice,two gentle man there,one abt 50 and other near 40.te older one started first-Basic qns abt myself,family,education etc,
then gave me some puzzles related to series problems,and one circle problem

Then asked abt my projects,just basics,

One qn was-if I give one empty glass,how would u use it,I replied as pan stand,container,flower pot and fish aquarium

Then why should infosys hire u.and that’s all.

So basics for infy written is,solve shakuntala devi both books, RS agrawal completely And most important,old papers

U.S Technology pattern ( 90 minutes)
32 - aptitude quest + logical reasoning from barrons
50 - Verbal section ( synonyms , antonyms, grammar sections)
if u r good at English, then verbal section wil be easier one. Time wont be sufficient so try to finish atleast 25 questions frm aptitude and 45 questions frm verbal section. Bcos separate cutoff is given for each sections…actually I got some of the aptitude questions repeated frm the file, which I hav attached here.

Once u clear the fst round, the next round is G.D

They wil select 3 to 4 from a goup. From my group, 5 got selected for the interview.

Then the next round is H.R+ Tech interview.

I got only one H.R question - tel me abt urself…tats all ..
Then he asked me to explain abt my project work…I explained it fully…
Very basic technical questions wil be asked from ur area of interest.

Few problems were given to me.. I solved everything..
Problems like series completion , directions( some directions is given from ur starting point and wher u wil rest finally? like tat)

I am a Electronics & instrumentation student so I got few questions from basic electronics questions like transistor coupling, how to convert analog to digital signal. He asked me to explain them with various process like sampling, quantizing….then I got few questions like ..wat is filter circuit? Rectifier? Like tat very basic electronics.

In instrumentation he asked me abt positive feed back in control system and wats the advantage of negative feedback.. I got strucked up with this question..finally I managed wit some answers…then I said I forgot answer…then questioned me in C language…just only the difference b/w C and C++ …and he asked me abt the oops concept…
My only advise to job seekers is”Don’t lose confidence” don’t give up…Be bold while facing interview…everyone wil get job bcos the opening r really very gud now… I hav used nearly 100 hard copies of my resume and sent more than 500 soft copies..

Prepare well with hardwork and try all kind of jobs..dont bother abt the salary…experience makes a man wise…God’s grace with hardwork wil surely place u somewhere…so keep trying…Our own Attitude is very important for job search. All the very best for all the job seekers.

They called me to come to their main office the interview was scheduled at 11 but my turn came at 12:30 pm.

The interviewer(I) was very cool,he took me(M) inside his cabin,it was in this way:

I: say something abt ur self.

M: explained abt my educational background,my family back ground.

I: so u r from cse n u know all these languages.

I: write using recursion

M: tried,almost correct ,he helped me.

I:xplain me how it will be executed .

M: xplained step wise.

I: asked to write algorithm of Quick sort and xplain abt bubble sort.

M: xplained ,was confused a little bit, he helped me.

Then he asked few q’s from c++,java, OS,RDBMS.

Asked to write few queries which were a bit typical but done successfully.

The interview was all around 45 mins.

At last gave me shake hand, I just went outside and again returned back and asked him “Sir! Shall I leave!”.

He said,give me 10 mins.

I waited for ½  hr.

Later a lady called me and took for a HR ROUND.

She took me into her cabin and left said that she will b back in few mins,came after few mins.

HR:Introduced  herself and askedme to xplain bat myself in detail.

Me: xplained.

HR: what were u doing from this one year.

Me:said that doing some course and trying parallelly.

HR: ur strengths.

Me:xplained.

HR: 2 major achievements in ur life.

Me:took some time, n managed to say only one.

HR : she was not convinced.

Me: I was a bit tensed.

HR: what do u know about GENPACT.

Me: xplained.

HR: that’s it amar,any q’s from ur side.

Me: I asked few q’s like job desc etc.

HR: she xplained everything.

Finally she gave a firm shake hand and said thankyou, me also done the same thing.
Went outside again knocked the door and asked mam whn can I expect the feed back.
She said ,”give us 2 days”.

I left, and one fine afternoon I received mail from them offering for a position in their organization.

I was really thrilled, not getting words to describe the moment.

At last I made it!
